Skopus Data Base Content Analysis SCOPUS shows 1 Kazakhstan Journal

11 June 2014, Astana –presentation of Scopus, one of the largest international research and bibliometric data bases, was delivered at the National Center for State Research and Technical Expert Review JSC.

Scopus is truly global in terms of the content coverage providing open access to over 50 mln. of research abstracts, 20,000 titles, 36,000 books, 5,000 publishers from 105 countries of the world and 2,800 journals.

In recent years number of Kazakhstan science publications has been growing steadily as suggested by the SCOPUS analytics. In 2009-2011 475 research articles were published averagely rising sharply from 2011. in 2012 their number grew by almost two times reaching 812. Last year’s statistical data reported another doubling vs. the previous year – 1654 articles. As for 2014, as many as 848 articles have been published to date. However, there is one more eloquent, but not so optimistic fact: the database of 20874 peer-reviewed journals displays one active Kazakhstan journal – "Eurasian Chemical Technology Journal " registered in 2007. If compared to the nearest neighbor the number of Russian journals displayed in Scopus is 214.

Elsevier’s database research landscape overviews works in the areas of science, technology, medicine, social sciences and arts and humanities with interdisciplinary works tending to grow.
